Others of us use additional tools that may have an additional cost(example: Affinity Photo = $55, Pixelmator Pro = $40). Fox has provided some great suggestions to do this for free inside Motion. You can also this to generate SVGs to export to Pixelmator Pro and then directly into Motion as Motion adrianvalia, I think the point is you have a couple of different options. Polygons (with up to 48 sides and curved segments). For example I also use Affinity Photo, which has even more tools for vector shapes Keeping in the spirit of helping the OP with options (all of these are good btw), I realized that with Pixelmator Pro, I get the advantage of other software that is built to create more complex vector art. You could always use this as a template for the Bezier Shape tool to quickly create an actual Shape object.Īny time (later) you need a polygon generator, just find it in your Library and apply it to the project. The replicator affords other options as well ) Outline only? Check the Hide Source option. Set the Position to Center and change the Color and Width. Need and Outline? Go to Filters > Border > Stroke. Rename the Group "Polygon Generator" and drag the group into your Library Favorites for future use.įor a solid polygon, select Polygon Generator and type the K key to create a Clone - now you have a solid shape (although it can't be edited AS a shape.) Turn off the Polygon Generator group visibility. Adjust Scale > X down until you see divisions then hold the Option key down while you move Scale > X back up until the edges *just touch*. Now, you can adjust the Scale > X (in Cell Controls) when you change the Points value to the number of sides you want.Įxample: Set Points to 12. Set the Shape to Circle and the Arrangement to Outline.Ĭheck the Align Angle Box and adjust the Radius until the points of the Triangles just touch (approximately 230). Select the Triangle shape and type L to create a Replicator. Go into the Library > Shapes > Triangle and Apply it (make sure it's in the new group). You can build one and it will be reusable. Or maybe I am missing something? I couldn't find any information in the apple user guide about it. I'm wondering if anyone remembers this being a feature of Motion back in the earlier versions? The product manager can't recall how this was done at the time. If I save the widget to the library and import it, the separators remain, so Motion is still capable of displaying in 5.5.2 I could rename using just a blank 'space' but that still creates a selectable snap shot in the widget. It is not even possible to add underlined text to fake it. As far as I know, there is no way to add this feature in the current version of Motion. The separator is baked in and is not an actual value on the widget. I'm not talking about creating separators for publishing to organise all the parameters, but in the actual widget. Some of the templates have pop-up widgets with a separator. I'm in the process of updating some old motion projects. Did older versions of Motion have additional widget features? Hi
